Lenten Devotion

Day 6, February 11th, 2008

Forgiveness...

“Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” Psalm 32:1

The first time I heard the word ‘forgiveness’ was the not long after I started living with my fostr family.  I had broken my mom’s glasses and I was sure she was going to be mad at me.  Instead, after showing my regret, she held me and told me that she loved me and forgave me.

That is how I receive the forgiveness of God.  I know that He is very much like my mother having seen my contrite heart, holds me and softly speaks to my heart with the “still small voice” of mercy and grace.

As we reflect and amend our ways during this season of penitence, allow yourself to receive the forgiveness of God after our contrition.

Dear Lord, guide us in our way back to you and help us in our contrition and our acceptance of your faithfulness and forgiveness. Amen.
