Lenten Devotion

Day 8, February 13th, 2008

Open our eyes...

“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:7

As we move through the season of Lent, we have to come face to face with our sinful self.  Having a wife who is a prosecutor, she comes across people who obviously have broken the law and yet can’t see that they have done anything wrong.

I make it a very important part of my daily reflection and prayer to honestly look at myself and see how I may have committed the errors of my ways so that I may reconcile the wrong.  However, I know that I can miss those times when I have committed serious errors and it is in daily prayers, scripture readings and honest reflections that I may not miss those moments as much.

Make this season of penitence to be a time when we allow God to open our eyes so that we may straighten the crooked paths we traverse and give God the glory.

Dear Lord, I pray that we make eyes to see the truth of our lives and live according to your will. Amen.
